Advertorial : The Dressup Store

The Dressup Store officially launched on 1st June 2009 with 2 mini collections. The owner is a 21 year old "Auntie" who loves shopping a lot!

Through the years, the owner has brought thousands of things online and collected a whole bunch of bad online shopping experience. With this experience, she decide to open a blogshop which she hopes to create a better shopping experience for her customers.

These are some of the things she is trying to achieve.

1. No long waiting time.

Many of the blogshop does not bring in stock and thus when she see something she likes, she has to join online sprees and pre-orders. All sprees and pre-orders comes with the hateful long waiting time. Even the shortest time taken is 2 weeks and the longest took more than 2 months. -.-

Therefore the owner decides to order limited number of items and bring them in to sell instead. So, all items in her blogshop are instock!

2. Photos of real item.

Ever bought an item online and when you receive it, it doesn't look like the item you saw on the photo in the blogshop? Most blogshop owners does not have the stock or are too lazy to take photos of the actual item. They simply put whatever photos they can find online or from their suppliers.

All photos of items are taken by the owner using her Sony digital camera which is slightly better compared to those poor quality photos taken by handphone camera. At The Dressup Store, what you see is what you get!

3. Simple Blog Layout.
Ever been to a super confusing blogshop or blogshop that takes forever to load or has loud music that scares you while you're blogshop hopping? The owner does not believe in forcing her favourite type of music on her customers. She also believes that the time taken to create a "perfect" layout could be better spent on sourcing for more stocks to bring in.

If you're looking for blogshops that blasts loud music or one that takes 20mins to load, I'm sad to inform you, The Dressup Store is not the blogshop that you're looking for.

4. Save more on shipping.

Many blogshops in order to make it simple for themselves, they would state the "item + shipping" price, for example (item price 19 + shipping price 1, they would state..) SGD20 mailed. So, when you purchase more than 1 item from their blogshop you have indirectly paid more for shipping.

Case scenario: The normal shipping for 1 item is $1.00 and the normal shipping rate to send out 3 items together is $1.50. You would be indirectly paying $3.00 for normal shipping instead of $1.50!

At The Dressup Store, shipping and handling fee is separated from the item price. When you purchase more than 1 item, the owner will recalculate the postage fee for you.

5. Low Additional Cost (Labour)
Some blogshops are maintained by more than 1 person thus they have to markup their item selling price more, in order to make enough from each sale to benefit everyone. This is also known as "Labour cost". The Dressup Store is owned and maintained by the one and only owner.

6. Low Additional Cost (Other Additional)
Other additional cost comes from special web designing, model's fee for modelling their items and photography fee. Imagine you have to pay more just to see people with good figures or a pretty face to wear items you don't know if it looks good on you.

7. No Additional Cost (Advertising)
The are blogshops that spend quite a bit on advertising and advertorials, where do you think their budget for advertising come from? If you think it's from their own pockets.. think again.. ;)

Well, before you start asking isn't this an advertorial?
Yes, this is an advertorial, but it's complimentary!

Because..
The owner of The Dressup Store is myself, Chicky.
Hahas. Well, hope you guys and girls take sometime out to check out The Dressup Store and Chicky's Cannla Auctions.

Please do not copy and paste any part of my advertorial and claim that it's yours, I spend more than 8 hours compiling ideas, organising, typing, taking photos, editing the photos, uploading them and re-organise everything so that it looks good.
Thank you very much! :)

Advertorial : Frinky's Sprees

I've been waiting for ages..
Yes, my first advertorial but this one is somewhat complementary for a friend.
You as a reader can gain from this!
So, read all the way to the end ok? :)

It's no secret that Shopping is my soft addiction.
I love to shop.
I love to find the best deal.
I love to buy pretty things..

And I love to participate in online sprees because I can buy pretty things at the comfort of my home + the fact that some items are cheaper than what's being sold in stores!

My regular spree handler increased her handling rates from $1 to $1.50 and I felt it's a bit too much for me to bare, therefore I stopped purchasing stuffs through her..

Then my hands got itchy. I needed my shopping spree addiction fix.
Together with ShaXiaoMei, we joined a pre-order for some rings and brooch from an online seller. Since 31 March till now, I've yet to get my stuffs!

I got a little unhappy so I decide to look for a good spree handler.
And that's how I decide to try my friend's service.

Sharon is my secondary school classmate and she owns Frinky's Sprees.
She has this on-going taobao spree which is damn cool.

Some pretty stuffs I just collected.

7 Reasons why you should spree with Frinky's Sprees.
http://frinkyspree.blogspot.com

One:
3 sprees are opened per month and each spree is open for only 10 days!
Which means you no longer have to wait FOREVER for a spree to close.

Two:
Even though she wrote that orders may take up to 4 weeks, I got my items in 2 weeks!
My previous regular spree handler takes more than 4 weeks!

Three:
Shipping charges are quite transparent, thus you can trust that she wouldn't anyhow charge you.
My previous spree handler collects $3 per item from us first, and even though she always say that she will give us the change back if it cost lesser, I never got any back from her and even have to pay extra sometimes..

Four:
Agent fee is only 11%! I've seen handlers charging 15% of total purchase!

Five:
Collection is at Tiong Bahru Taxi Stand.
Most handlers stay either all the way to the East of Singapore or all the way to the west of Singapore, so inconvenient loh. Tiong Bahru is located nearer to central and no matter where you stay, it's not too far away. :)

Six:
Handling fee is only $1.00 per item! As my reader, you would be able to get a super hot deal.
From now till end of June 2009, when you email her your order form, state that you are uglyfatchick's reader and you'll only pay $0.50 per item!

Seven: Save money by not paying those "extra middleman" aka blogshop owners..

I got these beautiful beautiful babies for half the price what some blogshops are selling at!!!

Remember, if you want to save more money, do quote that you're uglyfatchick's reader to get a 50% discount off handling fee! ;)
Till end of June 2009 only!!

I'm fond of writting short reviews straight from my heart.

Like if I really like a place, I'll give them 3-4stars.
If I really had an really bad experience I'll give like 1 or 2 stars.

I'm not the type who'll give a place a rating without anything to "support".
Like if I had bad experience with the service staffs, or something, I'll just rant it out.

Sometimes I don't wanna blog, I'll just write something on yebber.
Sometimes I'll yebber and then I'll blog.

The fun part? Yebber let us post photos and also let us earn yebber$ which can be changed into cash!
So everytime I write an review I earn like a few yebber$! Cool yeah? ;)

Currently, I Heart Yebber.

frustrated

current mood: frustrated

I just had a very very very bad experience.

I know clubbing is like not the norm on Sunday, but there is this event “newurbanmale.com anniversary party” and I’ve won like “free tixs”, so I went..

Time stated 9pm-4am. I went ard 9.15, there was no one inside and things were not set up yet! I got the goodie bag that’s like pretty empty. The only thing I liked was the paper bag itself. Anyway, there was NO ONE to chop/stamp my hand or anything but a staff pointed to a door for us to go in. No bouncer.

We ordered 2 drinks and since it’s one for one, one of our drinks should be free right? but no, the staffs were new and pressed 2 bottles, so we were charged 2 bottles and given 4 bottles to drink. I was like. Since there the place is like so empty, I only wanted 1 bottle so I can finish and go off soon.

I wanted to go to the washroom. The washroom is located outside. When I went out to go to the toilet, a lady told me I wasn’t allowed to go to the toilet, it’s for VIPs ONLY. I decide I’ll just go back in to ask my bf how. Then I got stopped by a very fierce bouncer. He didn’t care if he just saw me coming out of the exit like less than 30 seconds ago. He says no stamp, no entry and I should go buy tickets if I want to re-enter the place again. He didn’t care if I’m out to go toilet or what. I was like so scared, cause it’s the first time I go there and I’ve no idea how they operate.

I was called my bf who’s inside for help. He took me to the toilet, the lady who stopped me from going to the toilet, wasn’t around. When I was near the toilet, another lady wanted to stop me from going to the toilet. -.-

I don’t understand what’s with blocking people from going to their toilets? Can’t they hold their “VIPs” meeting elsewhere???

Then bf and I wanted to go back in to finish our drinks and the same bouncer stopped us again. This time my bf told him we just went in less than 30mins ago and we have drinks inside. The bouncer told the manager or something that we’re trying to create trouble and are being “excited”. -.- We even have the receipts to prove that we were inside loh.

We manage to get stamped and got back in. Drank a bit and left the place with 2 and a half bottles of drinks wasted.

No music. No people. No food. Late staffs. Lousy party.
